Selected coastal sections were painted on the basis of exact cartographic specifications. Without references to streets, cities, etc., a pure landscape is reproduced.

Ironically, when seeing these most densely populated cultural areas depopulated on Earth, one begins to feel alienated when thinking about it.
The blurred reliefs of the water surfaces, the gently undulating land disintegrated by the sea and rivers form together completely.
Perhaps it is precisely from this utopian state of untouchedness that its special beauty arises.

Layer by layer Gassmann removes the ink, with which he previously transfered the maps onto canvas, with water. Seen in this way, the artistic technique appears analogue in regards to the process of creation of the  landscapes depicted in the picture.

These landscapes are art spaces and thus free for individual settlement.
